Ibrahim Godofa is an Associate at Bowmans in Nairobi, specialising in technology law, data protection and privacy, and intellectual property law. He has experience in technology, media and telecommunications matters, data protection and privacy assignments, FinTech regulatory and compliance, as well as IP prosecution and IP litigation, advising diverse clients with interests at local, regional, and international levels.

Ibrahim regularly advises a global tech giant on product launches and legislative inquiries across Sub-Saharan Africa, provides launch advice to tech companies and start-ups in FinTech, media, and pharma sectors, and advises on telecommunications licensing, compliance, and regulatory engagement. He has provided regulatory advice on virtual currencies, exchanges, digital tokens, and crypto securities in Kenya, and regularly acts for the Jack Ma Foundation on its flagship philanthropic programme in Africa, including platform documentation, media distribution agreements, IP protection, and data privacy advice. He also assists start-ups with regulatory requirements for setting up and operating in Kenya, and advises clients in the gambling and pharmaceutical sectors. In privacy and IP, he advises on data protection compliance, registration with the regulator, data breach response, and represents clients in contentious proceedings before IP regulatory bodies in Kenya and internationally.

Ibrahim holds an LL.B from the University of Nairobi and a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law. He also has professional qualifications in arbitration and holds various roles in multiple international arbitration interest groups.
