Lawson Ondieki

Lawson Ondieki is a Partner in the Litigation Department at Dentons Hamilton Harrison & Mathews, specialising in dispute resolution, commercial litigation, and banking and finance litigation. He advises clients across a wide range of practice areas, including banking and finance, insurance, public procurement, infrastructure and PPP, employment, constitutional and administrative law, competition, and regulatory compliance.

Lawson has acted for a commercial bank in a case seeking to prevent it from exercising its statutory power of sale where the outstanding debt was more than US$15 million; advised a commercial bank on the appointment of administrators and receivership under the Insolvency Act, 2015 for a debt of US$10 million; and acted for an insurance company in cases challenging repudiation of insurance policies. He was also part of the team acting for H.E. Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta in the two presidential election petitions following the 2017 presidential election, and part of the team advising and representing a client on a challenge to the award of a multinational construction contract for the Mombasa–Nairobi railway.

Lawson holds an LL.B (Hons) from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (2012), a Diploma of Law (Bar Finals) from the Kenya School of Law (2015), and an LL.M in International Law and Governance (Distinction) from Durham University (2018). He is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
