Macharia Kaguru

Macharia Kaguru is a Partner at Njaga & Co. Advocates, specialising in Capital Markets Law, with extensive experience advising clients on capital market transactions, securities regulation, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, financial regulatory compliance, and intellectual property matters.

Prior to joining Njaga & Co. Advocates, he worked as an associate at Dentons Law, a top Ivy League law firm in New York, where he advised clients on corporate and finance law and intellectual property matters. He is also a seasoned legal educator, having lectured at Strathmore University’s School of Law since 2017 and as a visiting lecturer at the University of Nairobi’s School of Law. He has published articles on corporate and finance law and spoken at legal conferences and seminars.

In 2024, Macharia joined the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) as an Environmental Law & Policy Specialist, advising on Multilateral Environmental Agreements, climate change law, and emerging environmental law issues, including the operationalization of Article 6 of the Paris Agreement on carbon markets. He holds an LL.B (First Class Hons) from the University of Nairobi, an LL.M in Capital Markets & Securities Regulation and International Commercial Arbitration Law from the University of Nairobi, and an LL.M in Corporate Commercial, Securities Regulation and Climate Change from Harvard Law School. He is a member of the Law Society of Kenya and a Patent Agent.
