Alfred Deya

Alfred Deya is a Partner in the Dispute Resolution Department at Bowmans in Nairobi, specialising in dispute resolution, commercial litigation, and employment law. He has over nine years of experience in dispute resolution and litigation, having appeared before all Courts and Tribunals in Kenya and represented clients in highly contentious disputes across constitutional law, environment and land law, and intellectual property.

Alfred has represented Kenya Railways Corporation to reclaim a prime property in the Nairobi Central Business District, leading to a landmark decision that set guidelines for evictions. In employment law, he has prepared high-level advisories for Mastercard on termination, Victory Farm Kenya on discrimination and sexual harassment, Technoserve on trade union relationships and employee rights, and Microsoft East Africa on bonus payments. He has defended claims of unfair termination for Vitafoam Limited, Habitat for Humanity International, Air Connection Limited, and Airtel Networks Kenya, and acted for Samasource EPZ Kenya on constitutional claims involving fair labour practices. In commercial matters, he has represented ABSA Bank, Equity Bank, and Kenya Commercial Bank in enforcing charged instruments, and successfully defended Bavaria N.V. in a distributorship dispute. He has also advised Mombasa Gas Terminus on environmental dispute resolution before the National Environmental Tribunal.

Alfred holds an LL.B from Moi University, a Postgraduate Diploma from the Kenya School of Law, and is currently pursuing a Master of Laws in Corporate Governance from the University of Nairobi. He is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a member of the Law Society of Kenya.
