Dominic Indokhomi

Dominic Indokhomi is a Partner at Bowmans in Nairobi, specialising in fintech law, banking and finance law, and financial services regulation. He has vast experience in structuring, negotiating, and documenting financial transactions including corporate and acquisition finance, syndicated lending, project finance, real estate financing, and Islamic finance, as well as advising on capital markets transactions, debt restructuring, and data protection compliance. He also advises on fintech regulation including payment services, digital lending, digital banking, insurtech, and blockchain, and has advised clients on the incorporation, licensing, and regulatory compliance for financial services sector players including banks, payment systems, credit reference bureaus, capital markets intermediaries, insurers, and pension and retirement benefits schemes.

Dominic has advised a wide range of clients including the African Development Bank on a USD 100 million subordinated loan facility to Equity Group Holdings; the International Finance Corporation on a USD 75 million subordinated loan facility to Co-operative Bank of Kenya; the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation on financing of up to USD 5 million to Twiga Foods; Safaricom Plc on its bid for Ethiopia's second telecommunications licence and related financing; and the Government of Kenya on its USD 2 billion sovereign bond listed on the London Stock Exchange. In the fintech space, he has advised Commercial Bank of Africa (now NCBA) on regulatory approval of the Fuliza product; Branch International on receivables financing transactions; PayPal and Visa on the legal and regulatory environment applicable to their services in Kenya; and CoinBase on the regulation of crypto wallets, cryptocurrencies, and crypto securities in Kenya.

Dominic holds an LL.B (Hons) from the University of Nairobi, a Postgraduate Diploma from the Kenya School of Law, and is a Certified Mediator.
