Aleem Tharani

Aleem Tharani is Head of Projects, Energy and Infrastructure at Bowmans, specialising in energy, infrastructure, project finance, oil and gas, and mergers and acquisitions. He has acted on significant energy projects across Kenya and other African countries, including Sierra Leone, Guinea, Uganda, Angola, and Malawi.

Aleem advises on government contracts, concession agreements, power purchase agreements, offtake agreements, debt and equity structuring, partial risk guarantees, political risk products, land acquisitions, and regulatory compliance. He has worked on renewable energy projects spanning solar, wind, geothermal, hydropower, and hybrid storage solutions, as well as major infrastructure projects including roads, ports, aviation, and affordable housing developments across the region.

Aleem holds an LL.B (Hons) from the University of Manchester and a LPC (Distinction) from Nottingham Law School. He is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.

He is recognised as a Band 1 lawyer for Projects and Energy in Kenya by Chambers Global (2024–2026), a Next Generation Partner by Legal 500 for Privatisation and Projects (2020–2026), and a Highly Regarded lawyer for Project Development, Banking and Project Finance by IFLR1000 (2020–2025).
