Halima I. Hussein

Halima I. Hussein is the Managing Partner of her firm, with expertise in energy law, environmental law, international trade, and corporate law. She advises on commercial transactions, energy and infrastructure projects, environmental compliance, and policy and legislative drafting. She also practices in Islamic banking, conveyancing, family law, employment law, and medical law.

She has experience working at leading law firms in Kenya, including Ahmednasir Abdikadir & Company Advocates and Harrison Kinyanjui & Co. Advocates, and in‑house at Takaful Insurance of Africa and the Capital Markets Authority of Kenya. She has undertaken her articles at the Parliament of Kenya, drafted numerous Bills, and worked on legislative strengthening programmes in Kenya. She has also assisted community groups in enforcement of environmental compliance and mitigation of impacts of extractive and infrastructure projects as part of teams at Natural Justice: Lawyers for Communities, Power Shift Africa, and the Environment and Legal Response Initiative hosted at Simmons & Simmons LLP, UK. She has regularly worked at the intersection of law, governance, energy transition, and justice, focusing on energy and environmental justice.

Halima holds an LL.M in Energy and Natural Resources Law (Distinction) from Queen Mary University of London (2016), a Postgraduate Diploma in Law (Distinction) from the Kenya School of Law (2013), and an LL.B (Hons) from the University of Nairobi (2012). She is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
