Elaine Gathimba

Elaine Gathimba is an Associate in the Dispute Resolution Practice at Bowmans in Nairobi, specialising in dispute resolution, employment law, and commercial litigation. She is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with over eight years' experience within the legal sector, advising clients on termination and redundancy procedures, drafting pleadings, managing legal and commercial risk, and facilitating negotiations and drafting of a wide range of legal contracts.

Elaine has successfully defended a manufacturing company against a claim of unfair termination brought by three former employees seeking over KES 20 million in compensation; defended a large parastatal against a claim of unfair termination; represented a leading healthcare provider in an unfair termination claim; and defended a renowned financial institution against a civil claim seeking to overturn a decision to freeze accounts. She has also successfully mediated suits through court‑annexed mediation and alternative dispute resolution, and defended major insurance companies against various personal, fatal, and material damage claims to the tune of KES 50 million.

Elaine holds an LL.B from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa, a Postgraduate Diploma from the Kenya School of Law, and is a Certified Secretary with KASNEB. She is a member of the Law Society of Kenya.
