Walter Amoko

Walter Amoko is a Partner at ENS in Kenya, specialising in dispute resolution, commercial litigation, and arbitration. He represents both private and public bodies before the Kenyan Supreme Court, Court of Appeal, High Court, specialist tribunals, and arbitration forums, with a practice covering constitutional and administrative law, company law and insolvency, construction, employment, public procurement, public-private partnerships, and tax.

Walter has advised on and represented clients in challenges to affordable housing schemes under PPP programs, the completion of privately financed road construction under PPP, public procurement challenges relating to license awards and power generation contracts, banking disputes involving claims for damages against regulators, actions against banks for breach of contract and enforcement of guarantees, insurance-related challenges against regulators and claims for indemnity arising from the 2007/2008 post-election violence, and tax matters before the Tax Appeals Tribunal and the High Court regarding corporation tax, excise duty, VAT, and WHT. He has also advised on constitutional challenges to the constitutionality of various finance acts and the regulatory ambit of the Communications Authority of Kenya, as well as environmental law and planning for large-scale mixed developments.

Walter holds an LL.B from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a Diploma in Legal Practice from the Kenya School of Law. He is admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and is a member of the Law Society of Kenya and the East Africa Law Society.
