Michelle Gitumbi

Michelle Gitumbi is a Principal Associate in the Corporate Department at ALN Kenya | Anjarwalla & Khanna, specialising in mergers and acquisitions, private equity, fintech, and competition law. She regularly advises listed companies, market intermediaries, private equity firms, financial institutions, and high‑net‑worth individuals on complex commercial transactions.

Michelle has acted for a leading private equity fund on its investment into a new Mauritius‑based catalytic fund, including setting up the fund and negotiating constitutive documents; the Atraco Group on its acquisition by the Gokaldas Group, whose holding company is listed on the Indian Stock Exchange; a private equity fund on its acquisition of a leading fintech company with operations in Kenya, Uganda, and Nigeria; Network International on its takeover by a consortium comprising CVC Capital Partners and Francisco Partners; the shareholders of Acme Containers on the sale of their shares to Ascent Capital; Kuramo Capital on the rights issue by Transcentury PLC; and Equity Bank on its acquisition of Spire Bank, including advising on competition approvals in Kenya and COMESA. She also advises on fintech regulatory matters, including digital credit provider licence applications and regulatory compliance for payment service providers setting up operations in Kenya.

Michelle holds an LL.B from the University of Nairobi (2019) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law (2021). She is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
