Patrick Kamanthe

Patrick Kamanthe is an Associate in the Intellectual Property and TMT Practice at Bowmans in Nairobi, specialising in intellectual property law, technology law, and data protection and privacy. He has extensive experience in corporate commercial law, specifically advising on trademarks, branding and protection, media and advertising law, data protection, telecommunications, FinTech, cybersecurity, information technology law, artificial intelligence, IP due diligence, and emerging technologies.

Patrick has advised Meta Platforms LLC on Real Money Gaming law in Kenya; Google LLC on gaming law, payment service provider licensing, AI-related advice, and regulatory reviews; JP Morgan on the use of digital signatures on HR-related documents; Uber on the legality of Boda Boda operations and the applicable legal framework; Capital.com on the regulation of cryptocurrency in Kenya; and Coinbase on gaming law. He has also advised on brand protection for Samsung Electronics East Africa, the Scotch Whisky Association, Diageo Scotland, EA Sports, Four Seasons Hotels, and other global brands, and has advised various clients on data protection and privacy compliance, including registrations with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner, and on franchise agreements, anti-counterfeit law, and telecommunications licensing.

Patrick holds an LL.B from the University of Nairobi and a Postgraduate Diploma from the Kenya School of Law. He is a member of the Law Society of Kenya.
