Terry Mwango

Terry Mwango is a Partner and Head of Litigation & Disputes at Bowmans in Nairobi, specialising in dispute resolution, commercial litigation, and arbitration. She represents a diverse portfolio of local and international clients before various courts and tribunals in commercial disputes involving intellectual property, media and competition, defamation, banking and finance, insolvency and receivership, building and construction, environment, land and property, employment, product liability, medical negligence, judicial review, administrative and constitutional law, public procurement, insurance, and tax law.

Terry has acted for Ericsson Kenya Limited in an employment claim; WPP Scangroup PLC in obtaining leave for public listed companies to hold virtual general meetings during the COVID‑19 pandemic, the first application of its kind in Kenya; Deloitte Consulting Tanzania in a commercial dispute in Tanzania; Africa Oil Kenya BV in a tax dispute; Deloitte & Touche Tohmatsu Limited in a professional liability suit; and Capwell Industries Limited in an intellectual property dispute. She has also acted for Lufthansa Service Europa/Afrika GmbH, Mare Nostrum Limited in a building and construction arbitration, a leading multinational telecommunications company in an image rights case, and Grain Bulk Handlers Limited in a precedent‑setting arbitration claim under the Arbitration Act. She has successfully defended REA Trading Limited in suits relating to its acquisition of REA Vipingo Plantations, and acted for a shareholder and director of East African Portland Cement Company in a constitutional petition.

Terry holds a BA and an LL.B from the University of Notre Dame, Australia, a Graduate Diploma in Law from the College of Law, Sydney, and a Postgraduate Diploma from the Kenya School of Law. She is qualified as a solicitor in Australia (NSW) and an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya. She completed the Leading Professional Services Firms Programme at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford (2021).

She has been ranked in Band 4 for Dispute Resolution by Chambers Global (2023–2026), having previously been recognised as an "Up‑and‑Coming" lawyer in the same category.
