Maureen Munyao

Maureen Munyao is a Senior Associate in the Corporate Services Department at Bowmans in Nairobi, specialising in corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and corporate restructuring. She has over ten years’ experience in corporate governance, regulatory compliance, corporate restructuring, and risk management across multiple jurisdictions in sectors including agriculture, renewable power, printing and packaging, and healthcare.

Maureen has extensive experience in organising and managing Board meetings, ensuring seamless implementation of resolutions, and drafting, reviewing and implementing Charters and governance policies aligned with legal and regulatory standards. She has led governance reviews of financing transactions, supported key corporate transactions including transfers of business and asset sales, digitised statutory registers, facilitated AGMs and EGMs across the group, and conducted compliance audits and governance health checks to enhance regulatory adherence and governance effectiveness.

Maureen holds an LL.B from Moi University, is a Certified Company Secretary, and completed the Advocates Training Program at the Kenya School of Law. She is a member of the Law Society of Kenya and the Institute of Certified Secretaries. She has worked across Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Mozambique, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
