Alex Njage

Alex Njage is a Partner at Bowmans in Nairobi and Head of the Kenyan Real Estate and Construction department, specialising in real estate law, construction law, and commercial property. He advises on commercial and retail property, real estate development, joint ventures, acquisitions and disposals, due diligence, and real estate financing, with particular expertise in structuring large-scale mixed developments and conservation and tourism development projects.

Alex has advised Tatu City on the sale of industrial park portions by way of long-term leases to multiple companies; Mara Delta Property Holdings on its USD 22.5 million acquisition and leaseback of a pharmaceutical logistics warehouse; Old Mutual Property on its USD 55 million investment to acquire a 50% stake in Two Rivers Mall, the largest mall in East and Central Africa; and LSG SkyChefs on the development and construction of a second inflight catering kitchen at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. He has also advised The Nature Conservancy on the acquisition of a 56,000-acre ranch in Laikipia and on the establishment of the Upper Tana Nairobi Water Fund; Ol Pejeta Conservancy on the joint venture structuring for the development of Mount Kenya Wildlife Estate; and Bank of China Limited, Equity Investment Bank, and CDC on major property finance transactions. He has also advised Base Resources Limited on land law matters in a USD 170 million syndicated financing project for its Kenyan mineral sands project.

Alex holds an LL.B from the University of Nairobi and a Diploma in Law and Practice from the Kenya School of Law. He sits on the contracts committee of the Joint Building and Construction Council (JBCC-Kenya).

He is consistently ranked in Band 1 for Corporate/Commercial: Real Estate by Chambers Global (2020–2026) and as a Leading Partner for Real Estate and Construction by The Legal 500 (2018–2026).
