Christina Nduba-Banja

Christina Nduba-Banja is a Partner at Bowmans, specialising in corporate and commercial law, mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, ESG, and carbon markets. She is widely recognised for her practical, client-centric approach and her ability to guide international and local organisations through complex legal and regulatory landscapes in Kenya and across East Africa.

Christina has advised on high-value M&A and capital markets transactions, including advising Mayfair Bank on the acquisition of a majority stake by Commercial International Bank of Egypt; Lipton Teas and Infusions on the sale of its tea plantations businesses in Kenya, Rwanda and Tanzania to Browns Investments; The Holcim Group on the sale of shares in Bamburi Cement PLC through a mandatory takeover offer; Amethis and Naivas on the sale of a 40% stake in Naivas to IBL; and CVC Capital Partners on its acquisition of Unilever's tea plantations business in Kenya. She also advises on joint ventures, shareholder agreements, corporate restructurings, governance matters, and equity and debt investments.

Christina spearheads the ESG practice at Bowmans Kenya and is at the forefront of legal advisory in Kenya's growing carbon markets, advising carbon project developers, investors, and corporate buyers on carbon trading agreements, regulatory approvals, and sustainability-linked investments. She also assists international and local organisations with entity structuring, incorporation, licensing, and ongoing regulatory compliance across diverse sectors including financial services, fintech, agriculture, and non-profits.

Christina holds an LL.B (cum laude) from the University of South Africa and a Post Graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.

She is recognised as a Notable Practitioner in Kenya by IFLR1000 (2025) and has been ranked by Legal 500 (2022, 2025).
