Olivia Makau

Olivia Makau is an Associate in the Mergers and Acquisitions Department at Bowmans in Nairobi, specialising in mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, and corporate and commercial law. She has developed a robust foundation in corporate and commercial law through her involvement in a wide range of matters, including insolvency, employment, pension benefits, public M&A, and capital markets.

Olivia has advised KCB Group PLC on the sale of National Bank of Kenya, supporting key completion workstreams; Hemmingways Hotel on the acquisition of Richard's River Camp; and on the acquisition of a stake in Sun King, including review and analysis of corporate and regulatory considerations. She has also advised on the winding up of an Employee Share Ownership Scheme (ESOP) for a leading Kenyan bank, provided transactional support including legal due diligence for the proposed sale of a bottling and metal caps manufacturing group, and advised on a broad range of corporate and commercial matters, including restructuring, wills and trusts, public benefit organisations and NGOs, company incorporations, insolvency, employment, and pension benefits.

Olivia holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from the University of Nairobi and a Postgraduate Diploma from the Kenya School of Law. She is a member of the Law Society of Kenya.
