Kennedy Makau

Kennedy Makau is an Associate in the Projects, Energy and Infrastructure Department at Bowmans in Nairobi, specialising in infrastructure law, project finance, and energy and natural resources. He advises on energy, natural resource and infrastructure transactions, with a rapidly developing practice in environment, climate change and carbon contracts, as well as a strong background in real estate law.

Kennedy has advised on the implementation of a multi‑country agroforestry programme across six countries (Kenya, Malawi, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, and Ethiopia) to restore land and livelihoods while enhancing carbon sequestration; Africa50 and Power Grid Corporation of India on the first privately owned transmission line and the first transmission line PPP in Kenya's history in collaboration with KETRACO; a consortium on Lot 3 of the Kenya Roads Annuity Program; a leading renewable energy company on the implementation of utility‑scale battery storage system projects in Kenya; and assisted in a legal due diligence review for the acquisition of a majority stake in a leading solar solutions company with projects across six African countries.

Kennedy holds an LL.B from the University of Nairobi and a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law. He is currently completing a BA in International Relations (Development Studies) at the United States International University – Africa and is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
