James Kamau, SC

James Kamau, SC is the Managing Partner at IKM Advocates and Chair of DLA Piper Africa, specialising in infrastructure law, corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, and project finance. He is a leading corporate and projects lawyer in Kenya with over thirty years of post-admission experience, handling local and international complex transactions as the trusted legal advisor of leading local and multinational companies, project developers and sponsors, commercial lenders, private equity firms, and DFIs.

His areas of specialisation include corporate law, M&A, private equity, public-private partnerships, renewable energy projects, restructuring, and infrastructure projects. He has been instrumental in advising on some of Kenya's most significant infrastructure and energy transactions, providing strategic legal and commercial advice to clients across multiple sectors.

James holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from the University of Nairobi and a Master of Laws (LL.M) from the University of Cambridge. He is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a Senior Counsel.
