Polycarp Okumu

Polycarp Okumu is an Associate at Bowmans in Nairobi, specialising in tax law and corporate and commercial law. His practice focuses on tax planning and controversy matters, including tax health checks, tax audit engagements with the Kenya Revenue Authority, and tax advisory on various transactions.

Polycarp has advised on a wide range of matters, including a KES 181,000,000 secured lending transaction to a major logistics company; African Property Logistics on a REIT transaction; a major electronics company on product recall; Mawingu Networks on the issuance of Series A and Series B convertible preference shares; Savannah Cement on the transfer of its business and assets; and the acquisition by CFAO Healthcare of a 69.9% stake in Africa Chemist and Beauty Care. He has also advised on corporate governance considerations related to solar power plant investments, establishment of trust structures, succession planning, shareholder matters, and employment law, including termination and redundancy processes.

Polycarp holds an LL.B from the University of Nairobi, a Postgraduate Diploma from the Kenya School of Law, and is a Certified Public Accountant. He is currently pursuing a Certified Secretary qualification and is a member of the Law Society of Kenya.
