Rainbow Field

Rainbow Field is Head of M&A and a Director in the Employment Practice at Bowmans in Nairobi, specialising in mergers and acquisitions, employment law, and energy and natural resources. She has extensive cross‑border experience in M&A, corporate commercial, mining, energy and resources, and joint ventures, often operating in highly regulated environments.

Rainbow has advised on a wide range of significant transactions, including Glenmark Pharmaceuticals on employment law compliance; East African Breweries on its employee stock ownership plan; BigCold Kenya on the purchase of the assets and business of Alpha Fine Foods; Braeburn Schools on the acquisition of Hillcrest International Schools; The Clorox Company on its joint venture with Orbit Chemicals; WPP Group on its investment in Scangroup; Equity Bank on its acquisition of Uganda Micro‑finance and on a USD 175 million investment by Helios Investment Partners; Maersk Oil on its acquisition of interests in oil blocks in Northern Kenya; and on all Kenyan aspects of the USD 170 million Kwale mineral sands project financing. On the employment side, she provides a full‑service offering from hiring and terminations through to restructures, policy drafting, and investigations.

Rainbow holds a BA and an LL.B from Murdoch University, Western Australia, and is admitted as a barrister and solicitor in Western Australia. She is President of the Kenya Chapter of the Kenya Australia Chamber of Commerce.

She is ranked in Band 3 for Employment Law by Chambers Global (2025–2026), having previously been ranked in Band 2 (2018–2024), and is recognised as a Highly Regarded lawyer by IFLR1000 (2018–2025) for Energy and Infrastructure, Project Development, Project Finance, and M&A, and as a Leading Partner for Employment by The Legal 500 (2020–2023, 2025–2026).
