Yusra Butt

Yusra Butt is a Senior Associate in the Corporate and Commercial Department at Bowmans in Nairobi, specialising in mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, and ESG and carbon credits. She brings a wealth of experience in M&A transactions across manufacturing, agriculture, poultry, FMCG, pharmaceutical, and energy sectors, and advises clients on family trust structures, succession planning, and governance.

Yusra has advised Africa Poultry Development Limited on its acquisition of poultry farms in Uganda; Shalina Healthcare Kenya on its acquisition of Provexa Pharma Kenya; Ascent Capital Holdings on its acquisition of 75% of ACME Containers; a fund on its investment into a printing company in Kenya and Nigeria; and Coca-Cola Beverages Africa on the consolidation of its bottling subsidiaries in Kenya. She has also prepared vendor due diligence reports for logistics businesses operating across Mauritius, Kenya, and Uganda, and advised on a US$20,000,000 Series C investment in a mobile financial solutions provider. In the ESG space, she has drafted template carbon credit contracts for Trees for the Future, established the Kipeto Community Development Trust, advised Cella Mineral Storage on a carbon storage project, and provided ESG advisory services to an ecommerce platform.

Yusra holds an LL.B from the University of Reading, a Legal Practice Course from BPP Law School London, an MSc in Development Studies from SOAS, University of London, and completed the Advocates Training Program at the Kenya School of Law. She is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, a Notary Public, Commissioner for Oaths, and an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Kenya Branch). She is a member of the Law Society of Kenya.
