Wilson Waithaka

Wilson Waithaka is an Associate in the Intellectual Property and Technology Practice at Bowmans in Nairobi, specialising in intellectual property law, technology law, and data protection and privacy. His practice covers corporate and commercial intellectual property, as well as a broad range of technology, media, and telecommunications matters, including cybersecurity law.

Wilson has advised on telecommunications licensing and compliance for local and international telecommunication companies; an international company on the Technopolis Bill, 2024 and data centre construction in Konza Technopolis; localisation of technology documentation for compliance with Kenyan Data Protection laws; and trademark registrations and prosecution in multiple jurisdictions including Angola, Rwanda, South Africa, Uganda, and Zambia for Chemi & Cotex Industries. He has also advised the Jack Ma Foundation on its philanthropic programme in Africa, including platform documentation, media distribution agreements, and data privacy advice; a multinational conglomerate on the implications of the Communications Authority's proposed Telecommunications market structure; and a major international company on the Virtual Assets Service Provider's Bill, 2024.

Wilson holds an LL.B from the University of Nairobi and a Diploma in Law and Practice from the Kenya School of Law.
