David Opijah

David Opijah is a Partner in the Intellectual Property Practice at Bowmans in Nairobi, specialising in intellectual property law, technology law, and dispute resolution. He advises clients on trademarks, patents, designs, copyrights, technology, data privacy, and e-commerce, with a focus on IP litigation and protection across a wide range of sectors including aviation, construction, consumer goods, education, energy, entertainment, financial institutions, healthcare, insurance, pharmaceuticals, technology, media, and telecommunications.

David has extensive experience in IP portfolio management, enforcement, and dispute resolution, assisting clients with trademark and patent protection, design registration, copyright advice, and anti-counterfeit compliance. He also advises on technology-related regulatory and data privacy matters, providing strategic counsel to clients across both contentious and non-contentious IP matters. He is also a Patent Agent.

David holds a B.Ed from Moi University, an LL.B from the University of London, and a Postgraduate Diploma from the Kenya School of Law. He is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, a Notary Public, and a Commissioner for Oaths. He serves on the Internet Committee of the International Trade Mark Association (INTA).

He is ranked in Band 3 for Intellectual Property by Chambers Global (2025–2026) and recognised as a WTR Global Leader: Private Practice (2025).
