Andrew Oduor

Andrew Oduor is a Partner in the Tax department at Bowmans in Nairobi, specialising in tax advisory law. He has been a tax practitioner for eighteen years, advising clients on tax structuring, tax compliance, and tax advisory services. He heads the Tax Disputes and KRA engagement part of the practice, representing clients across all sectors at the Tax Appeals Tribunal, the High Court, and the Court of Appeal, and is regularly involved in negotiations with the Kenya Revenue Authority on their behalf.

He has successfully represented a major client in the auto industry at the Tax Appeals Tribunal challenging tariff classification changes, represented a major retailer against a tax residency claim by the KRA, and represented a major microfinance company against a tax residency claim seeking to subject its holding company to tax in Kenya. He has also represented a client in the renewable energy sector in securing the release of its products from the port by the KRA, and has negotiated settlements between clients and the KRA on matters before the High Court. He has advised banks on cross‑border restructuring, conducted tax health checks for clients across all sectors, and advised numerous local and global companies on structuring contracts and cross‑border transactions for tax efficiencies. He has also advised over 15 oil and gas exploration companies and petroleum service sub‑contractors on taxation matters, including Production Sharing Contracts.

Andrew holds a Post‑Graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law and an LL.B from the University of Nairobi. He is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, a Commissioner for Oaths, and a Notary Public. He is ranked in Band 3 in Tax law by Chambers Global (2026).
