Jeremy Connick

Jeremy Connick is a Senior Consultant at Bowmans in Nairobi, specialising in infrastructure law, energy projects, and project finance. He advises sponsors, lenders, and developers on the development and financing of power and renewables projects across Africa, bringing over 35 years of experience from his career at Clifford Chance, where he worked across the Hong Kong, Washington, and London offices and co‑headed the firm's Energy & Natural Resources Group.

Jeremy has advised on landmark transactions including the 340 MW Kpone combined cycle power plant in Ghana, which was recognised as African Power Deal of the Year 2014; the 190 MW Amandi Energy CCGT power plant in Ghana (African Power Deal of the Year 2016); the Bridge power project, a 400 MW LPG‑fired project in Ghana (African Power Deal of the Year 2019); and the Cabeolica wind farm in Cape Verde, the first commercial‑scale PPP wind farm in Sub‑Saharan Africa. He has also advised Genser on a USD 340 million financing for expansion and debt refinancing, the sponsors on the 80 MW Hakan peat project in Rwanda, TPG on the creation of its Matrix renewables business, and the funders on Phase I of DP World's GBP 1.6 billion London Gateway port project.

Jeremy holds an LL.B from Leeds University and is an English law qualified solicitor.

He is ranked in Band 1 for Projects & Energy – Africa‑Wide by Chambers Global, with clients describing him as "deeply pragmatic and logical", "an Africa specialist", and a lawyer who "has an uncanny knack for coming up with creative solutions".
