Michelle Kariuki

Michelle Kariuki is an Associate in the Real Estate, Banking and Finance Department at Bowmans in Nairobi, specialising in banking and finance law and real estate law. She has experience in banking and finance, real estate, mergers and acquisitions, and dispute resolution, with a focus on providing practical legal solutions to clients across multiple sectors.

Michelle has advised Avenue Group Limited on real estate matters and financing from a leading Kenyan bank; Land Degradation Neutrality Fund SLP on a syndicated financing involving the appointment of an administrator over the borrower; various international lenders on the enforcement and recovery of Kenyan securities; KCB Bank Kenya on a facility of USD 225 million to a petroleum company; and a renowned Kenyan manufacturer on a syndicated financing from a leading international financial institution. She has also advised on major real estate developments for Superior Homes, Oaklands Properties, Tatu City, and Unity Homes, and has worked on multi‑jurisdictional acquisitions involving entities from Mauritius, Luxembourg, Kenya, Namibia, and Mozambique.

Michelle holds an LL.B (Hons) from the University of Nottingham and completed her postgraduate studies at the Kenya School of Law. She is a member of the Law Society of Kenya.
