Alex Ndegwa

Alex Ndegwa is a Senior Associate at Bowmans, specialising in corporate and commercial matters, mergers and acquisitions, private equity and venture capital transactions, and capital markets law. He has been involved in some of the region’s largest and most complex transactions.

Alex has advised founding families, private equity funds, and multinational corporations on high-value exits, investments, and acquisitions across East Africa. Notable transactions include advising the founding family of Nodor Group on its exit to Inflexion; Amethis Private Equity Fund and the founder of Merec Industries on their exit to Invictus Investment Company; Actis Private Equity Fund on its exit from Java; Amethis Fund and the family owners of Naivas Supermarkets on their exit to IBL Group (winner of East Africa Private Equity Deal of the Year 2022); and The Holcim Group on its takeover of Bamburi Plc valued at USD 180 million. He also advised The Braeburn Group on its acquisition of Hillcrest International Group of Schools, Phatisa Fund on its investment in Manipal Group, and Ascent Capital on its investment in Dune Packaging (winner of Mid-Cap Deal of the Year 2024).

Alex holds an LL.B from Strathmore University and a Post Graduate Diploma from the Kenya School of Law. He is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales.
