Dr. Daniel Wanjau

Dr. Daniel Wanjau is a Partner at Dentons Hamilton Harrison & Mathews, where he heads the Intellectual Property Practice and advises on mergers and acquisitions, corporate and commercial law, competition law, energy and oil and gas, and capital markets. He is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with 25 years of post-admission experience.

Daniel has advised General Motors Corp on the sale of its shares in General Motors East Africa; Microsoft on the purchase of Nokia's mobile phone business; the consortium of Total, Tullow and CNOOC on a feasibility study for the East African Pipeline; and the World Bank and the Government of Kenya on an institutional review of the petroleum sector. He has also advised on the merger of Southern Credit Banking Corporation and Equatorial Commercial Bank, the IPO and self-listing of the Nairobi Securities Exchange, and numerous multinationals on legal and regulatory matters relating to ICT in Kenya. He advises a wide range of household-name global and local clients on the management and prosecution of their IP portfolios in Kenya and the East African region.

Daniel holds a PhD from the University of Melbourne (2009), an LL.M. from the University of the Witwatersrand (2002), a Diploma of Law from the Kenya School of Law (1994), and an LL.B (Hons) from the University of Nairobi (1992). He is a registered Patent and Trade Mark Agent in Kenya.
